Canstruction 2006
Canstruction® Vancouver is an amazing design/build competition using canned food
and other non-perishable items as building blocks. The Hellenic Community is proud
to be part of this worthy project for the fourth year in a row.
For the past three years the HCV has partnered with ScotiaBank and we thank them
for the generous support. We had the largest team ever at this year's competition,
with 17 members who did an amazing job!
The building of the structure took place on March 3rd and 4th, 2006 at the Cruise Ship
Terminal at Canada Place. However, the team began its planning and preparations weeks
in advance. All of the structures were on display for the public to view between
March 6-12.
The Hellenic Community together with the generous support of Scotiabank was able
to donate approximately 4,500 cans of tuna to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank!
We are proud to announce that this year's entry won the Structural Ingenuity Award,
an award that our team had won in 2003 & 2004! Our entry will now qualify for
the national competition! Way to go team! OPA!

but in the end there is always a way. The game of pool
is one full of tricks and impossibilities but with enough
thought an effort even the toughest of shots can be made.
The challenge fighting hunger is much the same and with
a little thought and effort it too can be resolved."
